Completing the Square

  • Is an ancient method of converting quadratics from Standard to Vertex Form

  • It contains Perfect Squares

STEPS:

  1. Convert the equation into Standard Form

  2. Bracket the first two terms

  3. Factor out the coefficent in front of x²

  4. In the bracket, add and subtract 'C' value to make a perfect square

  5. Remove the negative 'C' value by multiplying it with the coefficent

  6. Factor the bracket to make a Perfect Square
